Harry Potter Exhibition coming to the British Library in London
An exciting new exhibition, marking the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone, is set to open at the British Library this Autumn.
The exhibition, named Harry Potter: A History of Magic, will enlighten fans with everything from medieval descriptions of dragons and griffins, to the origins of the philosopher’s stone.
Visitors will see an extraordinary range of wizarding books, manuscripts and objects, combining historic treasures from the British Library treasures as well as original material from the archives of Bloomsbury J.K. Rowling.
The materials on display will enhance readers’ understanding of the Harry Potter universe, their content providing historical, literary and mythological context for the world that J.K. Rowling created.
Jamie Andrews, Head of Culture and Learning at the British Library, said:
'We at the British Library are thrilled to be working with J.K. Rowling and with Bloomsbury to mark the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter, and to inspire fans with the magic of our own British Library collection.'
The exhibition will open on 20 October 2017, and will run until 28 February 2018. Tickets go on sale from Monday 3rd April.
